Our Details

NPCC Mission: to develop its cadets into caring and responsible citizens.

NPCC Vision: to mould the builders of a safe and secure home.

Xinmin NPCC Unit was founded in 1967. From a small intake of 40 cadets in our inaugural year, we have now expanded to an impressive strength of 164 as of December 2007. The Unit recruits an average of 35 cadets a year, who are then put through a rigorous 4-year programme of meaningful, challenging and enjoyable activities.

The mention of Uniformed Groups brings an image of endless footdrill sessions under the sweltering sun (but still imagine the pride you get to experience during National Day Parade as you stand before 50,000 spectators in the National Stadium). As we do not discount the merit of drill in instilling discipline and camaraderie, NPCC offers much more!

Cadets put their mental and physical limits to the test outside their comfort zone of the modern day air-conditioned room in Camp Resilience, Pulau Ubin, where they apply Campcraft skills constructing shelters and gadgets for survival in natural surroundings. They get the chance to dare themselves at different levels of Rope Confidence courses and try kayaking out in the open sea – an exciting swap with the taken-for-granted city life.

What is NPCC without Police work? Collaboration with the Singapore Police Force brings us to Police Land Divisions, the K-9 Unit and the Police Coast Guard. Through various courses cadets pick up Crime Scene Investigation skills and basic legal knowledge; these police ambassadors also learn the importance of Crime Prevention, carry out anti-narcotics projects and work closely with NPC officers in spreading the messages in the school and its neighbourhood. The highlights in the 4-year NPCC term are the two live .22 revolver shoots where marksmanship is a much sought-after bragging right.

Xinmin NPCC Unit offers a holistic programme that moulds cadets to be good students who will be good citizens of the future, as ascribed in our Unit Vision statement. If you don’t believe it, just come and see it.
